3 Hours Stillwater Fly Fishing Tuition
Hi Stuart,
I meant to get in touch to thank you for my lesson on stillwater trout fishing a while back but did not quite get round to it. I have only been out 4 or 5 times since but have caught fish every time, so you certainly made a difference. I had a good year on our club water beats on the River Tone & Axe over 130 fish mostly
brown trout, one small sea trout and a few grayling.
All the best for 2008 and thanks for your fishing advice on my visit to the lovely Yorkshire Dales.

Just a quick e-mail to say thanks for your help, we both had a excellent day, followed by another fishing the Bolton Abbey Stretch as you suggested. Very productive, we both had around 8 fish each, with others missed. The morning seemed to be Grayling time, with some good fish. I managed a brownie in the afternoon which was my best ever, definitely over two pounds, from fast water, fishing the duo method.
Denise is now into river fishing, to the extend that She is now the proud owner of a 9ft Streamflex 5# rod, and new reel.
I will definitely recommend your services to others, we both learned a lot which hopefully will produce more fish in the future. Look forward to seeing the photo's

The old Lincolnshire saying about the Yorkshire man definitely does not apply to you. I really enjoyed my tuition and various techniques you showed me. I had another Brown Trout and a Grayling on Saturday afternoon so you must have been doing something right !. I caught them using the North Country Spider / Wet Fly Fishing technique.

...I had a great day with some excellent tuition from Stuart Minnikin, plus a bonus of
catching my first wild brown trout and my first grayling, I managed  to loose a few as well !!!
The setting for the day on the River Wharfe close to Bolton Abbey was superb, I can highly recommend Stuart to anyone wishing to begin fly-fishing or improve their techniques and catch rate with his tuition. If anyone requests information on fly-fishing tuition in the future I will be glad  to advise and put them in contact with Stuart in Yorkshire.

Children's Fly Casting Lessons

We had a great time and the boys went on to catch their bag as well as losing a few. I think the lessons were very effective although I agree George [10] would improve with a shorter rod.
The boys made an unprompted comment that you were a good teacher, since they have never said this about any of their school teachers you can take that as a high compliment. George particularly  liked the way that you were not too strict and didn't rush him. Thomas [15] was casting as far as me with single overhead cast.

River Fly Fishing Tuition - Including Czech Nymphing
Hi Stuart,
 Just a quick note to say thanks for last Mondays session. I enjoyed the day thoroughly despite the unseasonable temperatures. I now need to practice the methods you taught me. The important thing is that I can see the reasoning behind the techniques and understand why they should be better than what I have been practising.
Czech nymphing - what can I say, it is amazing. After I left you I went up to where you suggested. I continued with the Czech nymphing and had landed 3 fish in under an hour, one of them a superb Grayling of around a pound and a half. I couldn't believe it considering our catch rate during the day. To continue with my astonishment with the technique, I went down to our club stretch of the Calder yesterday morning and had eight fish in a two hour session, all wild brownies, the biggest at just under 2 pounds - this technique is absolutely fantastic. What's more I was fishing in runs and pools that I had never been able to fish before because of high banking and trees preventing fishing with a conventional backcast, this method has really opened up the river for me.
I will probably be back to you for a refresher or top up course this back end or early next season.

Just thought I'd let you know that I was in Devon on business on Monday and I managed 2 hours on the Exe. I had 10 all together, including 5 in 20 minutes on the Czech nymphs! It's a deadly technique - your excellent tuition is certainly paying off!! I'll try and get up for a grayling day in December.

I have been out grayling fishing a few times this winter and found the Czech nymphing and upstream nymphing techniques we did at Bolton abbey to be really effective.
At the last trip I caught more fish than my five fellow anglers put together - the short line stuff really works.
Anyway thanks for a great day out and for sharing your expertise so freely.

I went back to the spot where we got the big one and fished exactly where you had suggested (behind that rock) and landed a one pounder on one of those tungsten beaded nymphs. I decided to call it a day after that as I was a bit hot and thirsty. A day to remember.

Thanks for a great day last Saturday, I will stick with it and bought a new (2nd hand) rod in the week 9' #6 4 piece and have been practising. It is a lot easier with a lighter rod.
